The God Who Keeps His Promises
... The God who fulfilled His promises in history will remain faithful to every promise He has made in Christ.
Ezekiel 37:14 NKJV (devotion translation)
“Then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it,” says the Lord.
Devotion:
Today’s Scripture reminds us that God’s faithfulness is never limited by what appears impossible.
The vision of the valley of dry bones was given to Ezekiel during one of Israel’s darkest seasons. The nation had been scattered, Jerusalem had fallen, and hope seemed gone. Humanly speaking, there was no path back. Yet God asked a question that directed attention away from circumstances and toward His power: "Can these bones live?" The answer rested not in human ability but in the Lord who speaks life where death has prevailed.
God promised to gather His people, restore them to their land, and breathe life into what appeared beyond recovery. His purpose was not merely to bless Israel but to display His own faithfulness before the nations. The Lord would accomplish exactly what He had declared because His name and His character are trustworthy.
This same God has not changed. While the historical promises of Ezekiel belong specifically to Israel, they reveal an unchanging truth about the Lord. He is faithful to every promise He has made. Through Jesus Christ, believers have the assurance that God forgives, restores, and completes the work He begins in those who trust Him. Our confidence is not rooted in our strength or circumstances but in His unchanging Word.
There are seasons when life can resemble a valley of dry bones, when hope feels distant and answers seem delayed. Yet God’s purposes are never hindered by what appears impossible to us. He calls His people to trust His Word, remain faithful, and wait upon His perfect timing.
Rest today in the certainty that the God who speaks is also the God who fulfills what He has spoken.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that every promise You make is trustworthy. Help me to rest in Your faithfulness, to trust Your Word above my circumstances, and to walk each day in confident obedience to Christ. Amen.
