Devotion:

Suffering is one of the hardest realities of life in a fallen world. When trials come, we often ask why God would allow pain, disappointment, or hardship to touch our lives. Yet Scripture reminds us that God does not waste suffering. Even when we cannot fully understand His purposes, we can trust His character.

Paul wrote about rejoicing in sufferings, not because suffering itself is good, but because God is able to accomplish something eternal through it. Trials expose our weakness and remind us how deeply we need the Lord. In seasons of comfort, it is easy to depend on our own strength. But in hardship, we learn to lean on God in ways we otherwise would not.

The Lord never trivializes the pain of His children. What burdens your heart today matters to Him. He is the “Father of mercies and God of all comfort” who draws near to the brokenhearted. Even when answers are delayed, His presence remains steady. Christ Himself suffered, and because He suffered, He is able to strengthen those who trust in Him.

Suffering also refines our character. God uses difficulty to reveal pride, fear, impatience, and unbelief so that He may shape us more into the likeness of Christ. Though the process is painful, the result is spiritual maturity and a deeper confidence in the faithfulness of God.

This world is not our final home. One day, every sorrow will give way to the glory of God’s eternal kingdom. Until then, believers are called to persevere with their eyes fixed on Christ, trusting that He is working even through the trials we do not understand.

Prayer:

Father, help me to trust You in every season of suffering and to lean upon Your strength instead of my own. Use every trial to draw me closer to Christ and to shape my life for Your glory. Amen
