Devotion:

Today’s Scripture reminds us that the Christian life is not lived by human determination alone.

Every believer knows the struggle between the desire to honor God and the pull of the sinful nature. Although we have been made new in Christ, we still live in bodies that are weak and prone to temptation. Scripture does not ignore this conflict. Instead, it points us to the One who enables us to persevere.

Romans 8 reminds us that the Holy Spirit dwells within every believer. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is present to strengthen us for daily obedience. This does not mean the battle disappears, but it does mean we are not left to fight it alone. God has provided His own Spirit to empower us to turn from sin and walk in righteousness.

The Holy Spirit also assures us that we belong to the Father. Through Christ we have been adopted into God’s family, not as distant servants but as beloved children. Our obedience is not an attempt to earn His acceptance. It is the grateful response of those who have already received His grace.

There are also moments when life’s burdens leave us unable to express what is in our hearts. Even then, we are not abandoned. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God. When our words fail, God’s Spirit faithfully ministers on our behalf.

As you walk through today, remember that victory over sin and endurance in hardship are rooted in God’s presence, not merely your own resolve. Christ has given His Spirit so that you may live faithfully, even in the midst of the ongoing battle.

Rest today in the assurance that the God who dwells within you is also the God who faithfully sustains you.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for giving me Your Holy Spirit to strengthen, guide, and comfort me. Help me to walk in obedience, trust Your power instead of my own, and rest in the confidence that I belong to You through Christ. Amen.
