The Lord Watches Over Israel
... The God who watches over Israel is also watching over all who trust in His Son
Psalms 121:4 NKJV (devotion translation)
Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
Devotion:
The Bible repeatedly reminds us that God is attentive to His covenant purposes and faithful to His promises. Throughout Scripture, Israel stands as a testimony to both the justice and mercy of God. Nations rise and fall, conflicts come and go, yet the Lord remains sovereign over history. He neither abandons His people nor loses sight of His redemptive plan.
Psalms 121 was written as a song of trust for pilgrims traveling toward Jerusalem. The psalmist understood that human strength is limited and earthly security can quickly fail. Yet he found peace in knowing that the Keeper of Israel never grows weary. God’s watchful care is constant, perfect, and unchanging.
When we see turmoil in the world, especially surrounding Israel, we should not respond with fear or speculation. Instead, believers are called to pray, to remain grounded in Scripture, and to remember that Christ Himself is the center of God’s redemptive plan. Jesus was born in Israel, crucified in Jerusalem, raised from the dead, and promised to return again. The Lord’s purposes through Christ will stand, regardless of the unrest of nations.
At the same time, Scripture teaches us to value every human life. We should pray for peace, for the protection of innocent people, and for hearts to turn toward the Savior. The gospel remains the only lasting hope for Jew and Gentile alike. Sin divides, hatred destroys, but Christ alone reconciles sinners to God and offers true peace.
As followers of Jesus, we must guard our hearts from bitterness, fear, and confusion by staying anchored in the truth of God’s Word.
Prayer:
Lord, strengthen our faith to trust You in uncertain times and help us remain steadfast in prayer and truth. May our hearts rest in Christ, the Prince of Peace. Amen.
