Faithful in the Waiting
... God uses seasons of waiting to prepare the heart for His purposes.
Psalm 27:14 NKJV (devotion translation)
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!
Devotion:
God often works in seasons that do not immediately align with our expectations. In Scripture, we see that His calling on a person’s life does not always result in immediate fulfillment. Instead, there is often a period of waiting—sometimes marked by difficulty, uncertainty, and testing. This waiting is not wasted time; it is purposeful preparation.
The Lord had already established His plan, yet the fulfillment of that plan unfolded over years of hardship. During that time, God was shaping character, deepening dependence, and refining faith. What appeared to be delay was, in reality, divine preparation. God was not absent in the waiting—He was actively at work.
Waiting exposes the condition of the heart. It reveals whether we trust God’s timing or seek to take matters into our own hands. It teaches humility, patience, and reliance upon the Lord rather than upon circumstances. In these seasons, faith is not proven by outward success, but by quiet obedience and steady trust.
The Lord’s purposes are always good, even when they are not immediately clear. He sees what we cannot see and knows what we are not yet ready to carry. What He promises, He will accomplish in His time. Our responsibility is not to control the outcome, but to remain faithful where He has placed us.
Every season of waiting is an invitation to draw nearer to God, to listen more closely, and to trust more deeply. As we wait, He strengthens the heart and prepares us for what lies ahead.
Prayer:
Lord, teach me to trust Your timing and remain faithful as You prepare me for what You have planned, Amen.
