Devotion:

On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus spoke plainly to His disciples about His departure and their future hope. They were troubled by the thought of losing Him, yet Jesus directed their attention beyond the immediate moment to an eternal reality. He did not merely describe a place called heaven; He revealed Himself as the only way to it.

When Jesus says, “I am the way,” He is not offering guidance among many options. He is declaring that access to the Father is found in Him alone. Sin has separated humanity from God, and no human effort can bridge that distance. Christ Himself becomes that bridge through His death and resurrection. In Him, the way is not earned—it is given.

He also calls Himself “the truth.” This means that all that is necessary to know about God, salvation, and eternal life is fully revealed in Christ. There is no hidden path, no alternative message. Truth is not abstract; it is personal and found in the person of Jesus.

Finally, He is “the life.” Eternal life is not simply a future destination but a present relationship with Him. Those who trust in Christ are given life that death cannot take away. Heaven, then, is not merely a place prepared—it is the dwelling of God where believers will be with Him.

This truth steadies the heart. In a world filled with uncertainty, Jesus gives clarity. The question is not whether many paths exist, but whether we will trust the One who has made the way. Faith in Christ brings assurance, not because of our worthiness, but because of His finished work.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, help me to trust You as the only way to the Father and to rest in the life You have given me; Amen.
